Question

What are good ideas for small online businesses?

My brother wants to start a business with startup costs of $500 or less. Is there any suggestion to start a small online business? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank You!

For less than $500 he surely can get a decent laptop. Then he can invest the remaining money in building and hosting a website to sell his services.

We see a lot of spam here for virtual assistants. That's just one of the ideas, of course, depending on what he's good in. Freelance programming or translation services are common alternatives.

$500 or maybe less, yes you can start a business. However, you still need to invest for marketing to run the business and reach your potential customers. Consider this and this is just a suggestion.

1. Find your passion and niche in week 1 ($0).
2. Think of a great business idea in that same week ($0).
3. Create and validate a business model in week 2 ($0).
4. Make some noise on social media on week 3 ($0).
5. Build your website in week 4 ($2,000).
6. Generate leads using a lead magnet in week 5 ($0).
7. Invest in inbound marketing for weeks 5 to 12 ($3,000).
8. Automate your CRM and Marketing for the last week. ($0).
