What are all the Sonoma specifications?

Jan 25, 2005 8:20AM PST

First of all, I'm having trouble deciding on a laptop, and the introduction of Sonoma has made it even more so. I'm wondering if there will be a HP zt4000, also there is this new Toshiba Satellite M45-S331 Notebook which I'm not sure is a "real" Sonoma?

What kind of memory does Sonoma support?
According to the new standards it should support
533MHz, dual-channel, double-data-rate (DDR) 2 memory,
but if the memory included with, say.."Toshiba Satellite M45-S331", is "PC2700 (333MHz)", does it mean I can uppgrade it to dual-channel, double-data-rate (DDR) 2 memory?
Is there a way of knowing if the motherboard supports dual-channel DDR2-533 memory?

What does "Processor Number: 735" mean when the notebook info states "Intel Pentium M Processor 730, 1.6GHz, with Centrino Technology", is it a semi Sonoma?

I think I will get a headache and just buy the first good offer??

Just a simple question.

Why buy from a company that doesn't know the answer to your inquiry?

My feelings are this is not a good way to start with them.

Shouldn't the vendor know it's own products?

See Dell 6000 for Sonoma specs you should see or not Sonoma

The Sonoma processors should be 730 for the 1.6 Pentium M wheras the older specification as the 725 1.6 -- if it is stating 725 or any 7xx ending in a 5 that is not Sonoma.

Also, if you have a genuine Centrino Sonoma (revision 3) build you have to have all the new stuff not some of it.

If you don't have the upgraded RAM, the 533mhz bus, the 7x0 Pentium M cpu, the wi-fi card with a, b and g, then it is not Sonoma.

Yes, someone posted a HPZT4000 model is coming out (my model was HPZT3000) -- just look at the Dell 6000 model specs at Dell.com as that model is brand new and did not just upgrade components for Sonoma (the older model for Dell is the 8600 which is still on their site also)
