What a prince Michael Schiavo is :-(

Mar 30, 2005 10:10PM PST

Regardless of what anyone thinks about how this case has unfolded, it seems to me that her siblings and parents have a right to be with their sister/daughter in her final hours. Agree?

I just heard on TV where the Shindler family is PLEADING with him to be allowed to be with Terri in the final hours of her life. He apparently is refusing to allow this. *SIGH* Cry

I was not stating that she was dead or brain dead or anything else that I didn't state that you imagine that I did.

The question was a simple is it could be.

If there's no mental function, how can there be a marriage?
Apr 6, 2005 4:02AM PDT

I'm sure, James, that the only reason he didn't divorce her was that doing so would in fact have left her parents free to act in violation of her wishes. And, btw, they've already stated they'd feel free to do as they've done even if convinced she did want to die.

... how can he be a husband? Can't have it both ways. It would have left her parents free to act in violation of her wishes?? I don't see how anyone can look at that family (and I'm talking the siblings too) and make that statement with even an iota of certainty.

I'm not so sure. Her case has raised many issues and

questions, and it has elevated the urgency of dealing with these issues. The stealthy cover of this 'practice' of medicine has been blown. Many lives may be saved as a result.

Also, they had said

... that he refused for her to receive Holy Communion on Easter, but that was not so.

If he had been refusing them today, he may have wanted some private time with her. The TV just reported that they just now entered the Hospice.

... I heard just the opposite. They said that he refused to allow her to receive Communion a day or so ago.

She has just passed away. May she rest in peace.

He thought she was a vegetable. They believed she communicated still with them. They have just now been allowed in after she died.

I have a giant lump in my throat it is hard to express.

My family, my daughters.
Mar 31, 2005 2:56AM PST

I have two legal age daughters. We are having living wills made out for each of them to sign that will give us the power of decision in such event for the rest of their life unless otherwise revoked in an official document of a later date that is both signed, witnessed, and notarized. It will have conditional clauses specifically addressing the effect of future marriage on the will. I look at it as mine and wife's insurance policy for such situation, should it arise, God Forbid.

I also saw on TV, where others have been denied the same thing. The young lady that the report focused on missed being by her grandfather's bedside due to delays caused by the circus of protesters and extra security reqiured to deal with them.

This message has so much sarcasm in it that I bet it gets deleted. Here's what I do now, I don't give my opinion or a fact, if someone says something that I agree with I then post "With you 120%" or "I hear you man" . After a couple of years maybe I'll start posting my opinion again and see how it goes, or maybe I won't waste my time. If you click my name you will see I've been here about 3 years but that does not count twards your time in speak easy, I've only been posting here 1 1/2 month.
