Question

Western Digital My Book for Mac wouldn't mount!!!

Jan 20, 2012 9:26AM PST

I lost the USB connection of my WD My Book for Mac while traveling. So I borrowed my brother's Seagate connection, which matches perfectly, but it just wouldn't mount!!! I don't understand why...The SmartWare on my computer is up to date. Should I buy the WD USB connection?? Or maybe something is wrong with the hard drive??? PLEASE HELP ME...all my work files are on it....

SmartWare is an app that has to be installed on the computer so as to mount the drive and categorize the files.<span id="INSERTION_MARKER">
When the hard drive is connected to the computer, SmartWare should pop up automatically.
But nothing happens when I do that....
PLEASE HELP

Go back to your Dad's laptop

and try that again.
Windows is attempting to install the drivers it needs to run the disk.
If you are lucky, you will have access to your files again and will be able to recover them to CD/DVD on your Dad's machine
