Does it show in Device Manager?
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / July 18, 2013 1:16 AM PDT

Or Drive Management?

If not, it's likely dead and you need to try the last hurrah's such as try it on another PC or have a shop test it for you.

Answer
You replaced the cable?
by wpgwpg / July 18, 2013 1:38 AM PDT

Cable length is very critical with external hard drives, so if you replaced the cable, you need to be sure the new cable is no longer than the original one. I'd say 1.5 to 2 feet. With slower devices like printers you can have much longer cables, but timing is very important with external hard drives.

Good luck.

That's not good.

Be sure to try a good HDD on this new cable.
