Western Digital External Hard Drive Problem!

Jun 22, 2011 8:47PM PDT

I am currently a Windows 7 32-Bit. I tried plugging in my external HD to other computers but I am still having problems. When I plug in my USB into my computer, it is recognized but no drive letter is assigned to it.

Yep, regular readers of this forum know that external hard disks aren't meant for storage. The two main uses are:
- one of your backup media (but preferably not having the only backup copy of valuable data)
- transport of data between computers that aren't in a LAN
In both cases, no data is ever lost. Just a copy of data you still have elsewhere.

So now read the top post in this forum about DIY recovery. If no success, find a specialised recovery company (one of the links in one of the threads gives a world wide list of Western Digital recommended ones).

Western Digital External Hard Drive Problem!

I would not give the hard time to the hard drive. I had the same problem and took my HD to ASAP Data Recovery. They have very good service and affordable price. Here is the link.

Good luck.
