WEP Knocks out internet access

Mar 20, 2005 8:01AM PST

I am running Windows XP and Netgear G. I now have problems after the XP SP2 update. I get connected to the Access Point, but I have no internet connection. When I turn off WEP, it connects fine to the Access Point and internet.

I updated two machines to SP2 at the same time. One has no internet connection problem, WEP or no WEP. The desktop is the one with the problem, again only when WEP is turned on. I see that I am connected to the Access Point, but no internet.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

Fairly common issue.

It's not fun that the makers haven't solved this. Look first to the router's firmware updates and then to the maker's client devices for latest drivers.
