Weird Question

Jun 16, 2005 12:52AM PDT

I want to connect my Playstation 2 to my wireless laptop which is receiving an internet connection via a wireless router that I do not have access to. Any ideas?

Most forum members don't help such a request since you may be hijacking someone else's connection. No one helps such an endeavor.

Just FYI.

Its not hijacking

First of all, I'm not hijacking a connection. I'm in a hotel for an extended period of time. I have my own wireless network at home, and the way I look at it is that if you're too foolish to secure your network, then you deserve to get 'hijacked'.
Anyways, back to the original question at hand please. I'm paying for wireless access at my hotel, and I would like to hook up my Playstation 2 into my laptop, which is receiving the signal. Any ideas?

We've been there recently...

In this thread. We used the Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) feature that has been in all versions since Win98SE to redistribute wireless access to a PS2 beside the computer. Be aware that if the hotel's wireless system is issuing addresses in the same IP range as Windows uses for its DHCP (192.168.0.xxx), then you are out of luck. I don't think you can alter the series Windows uses, instead you must alter the incoming series - but you don't have access to that.

Also note that the person who posed the question in the previous thread didn't check back to tell us how well the PS2 was working... I presume s/he's happy with the results.
