So I'm sitting here on a rainy afternoon, looking for something to do. I'm looking through my collection of games, and see SWAT 4. I hadn't played it in a year or so, and I thought I thought it would be a fun throwback. I find the relevant disc, pop it in the drive, and wait for the autorun screen to come up. Play SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate. That's my ticket. I click it. Nothing happens. The autorun screen doesn't disappear. My computer remains as silent as always, with none of the exciting HDD whirring that indicates that big things are about to happen. No matter, I say. Sometimes the autorun screen doesn't work like it should. I go into my Games folder, find the shortcut, and double-click. Also nothing. Now I'm annoyed, but I still have hope. So I go into my program files, find the SWAT 4 directory, locate the .exe, and double-click that. Still nothing. Now I'm mad.
I uninstalled everything (the game and the expansion), deleted the entire Sierra directory, and started with a fresh install of just SWAT 4, no expansion. Still no luck. The patch on the expansion pack disc was of no aid, either. The game just refuses to boot up, period. There's no error message, no crashing to desktop, no even leaving the desktop, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.
My system specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2GB quality OCZ RAM
Running on Windows XP + SP2
It's the exact same setup as when I last played the game, probably a year ago. Something happened between then and now that screwed it up, but I have no concept as to what the problem is. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
