Copy "notepad.exe" to the Windows\System32 folder. Let it overwrite the one already present, if prompted. Or you can run System Restore to when it worked. BTW, did you get any message when you tried to launch it at "Run" ?
A couple of days ago my Notepad stopped working or so I thought. When typing "notepad" in the run command as I always do to run this program, nothing happened because the program failed to load. I'm running Win XP Pro and have never had any trouble with this program in the 3 years I've had my laptop.
I did a search and found Notepad files in several places, among them, the /386 and /windows folders. Within either of these folders, if I click on "notepad.exe" the program loads and runs fine, but it still won't run from the "run" command line.
Thinking it might be a "path" problem, I was able to run "regedit" from the run command line with no problem (this program also only exists in the /386 and /windows folders.)
Anyone got an idea as to what's wrong here?
