weird LAN connection behavior

by Haisook / May 25, 2005 10:01 AM PDT

My PC is connected to a LAN by a link from the main router. The problem is that most of the time, "Receiving" stops -- while "uploading" is ok. So of course, I won't be able to use the internet at all.

Then my link have to be replugged in the router (replugging it in my case doesn't work) in order to bring everything back to normal. Any ideas? I don't know if the problem's in my own PC, the router? or the LAN connection settings.

Sorry I'm not that great at LAN stuff. I hope I got everything clear. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the router have a reset button?
by Ray Harinec / May 25, 2005 10:23 AM PDT

Possibly you are doing some procedure that requires the router to be reset.

it doesn't. This happens only in my PC. Other PCs in the network work fine.

Yeah, sometimes I run it, but mostly late at night. However, the problem occurs whether it's on or not.

I haven't measured it. I just happens that "receiving" stops completely. You can see it in the status window of the connection. (by right clicking on the "2 small monitors" at the taskbar, then choose "status").

I type a link of any website, and look at that windows. "Receiving" doesn't goes up at all.

Most are spyware riddled and give access to your machine to unknown people.

I can't write enough words to tell you how dangerous P2P has become.
