Weird flickering when scene change on some channels

by dodgecrib / January 15, 2009 5:16 AM PST

Hi, on my 52" LCD 750 series I noticed on a few channels coming from my Direct TV HD DVR there is a weird kind of flickering sometimes when the scene changes. This was happenning on both American Idol (fox) shows that my girls were watching. I checked other channels and didnt see it seeming to happen. Only once and a while but both times on Amer. Idol. It has a great picture but when the scene changes from 1 to another there is kinda like a quick ghost image (hard to explain) Could it be the way some channels are broadcast over direct TV. I was looking for it last night but from what I saw most channels were fine. Im just being a bit peranoid but I love this TV and want to make sure I dont have a bad set before the 30 day return poilcy is up.

Thanks for any help.
BILL

I sometimes have a quick green flicker when switching...not really sure what causes it but it doesn't really bother me.

Broadcast...

Bill,

I'm leaning towards the broadcast signal on this one. If it was happening consistently on channels and several scene changes, I would get a little concerned about the television set. But if it's limited to one channel (particularly one show), it may be how the show was edited and then broadcast. Delivery compression can cause this, as well as time compression.

It may be as simple as calling Direct and having the box reset.

Keep me posted.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
