Spyware, Viruses, & Security forum

General discussion

Hi all,i recently had a Trojan which took some getting rid of & had to install & uninstall various programs to tackle it as a lot of them seemed to come across it then stall or finish immediately. My pc still seems to act strange so ive been getting rid of some programs when just now i noticed i still had Advanced Spyware Remover in my list of programs but not in the add/remove programs. Anyway i decided to give it another try so started to download the updates when my Avast antivirus blurted out 'caution, caution this is a trojan'or something very similar. So i uninstalled it then went to download.com to reinstall it when Avast blurted out the same thing. Could it be a reference to a Trojan in the Advanced Spyware Remover's database? I'd like to give this program a test drive but keep having to abort because of the warning from Avast. I'd appreciate any suggestions thanks guys..

They ARE supposed to help but

In reply to: Interesting?

unfortunately the bad guys have more programs that hurt you and than good guys have good programs to help. That is one of the reasons for a forum such as this to inform people of the bad ones. Happy

Check the link often as it is

In reply to: Yep!

updated often. Also, have your friends read the info about the Google links on the same page so they know the difference between the true search results and the paid ones. The majority of the general public is not aware of that either. That whole page is a wealth of information.

You are welcome. Happy
