Question

Website via laptop vs mobile

Apr 21, 2016 1:09PM PDT

Using the laptop via WiFi we can access the videos and play them.

Using the cell phone via cellular service we can access the videos and play them.

Using the cell phone via WiFi we can browse the site, but the videos will not play.
I think that the error was something like
"cannot run player.php".

Thank you.

- What video on what website?
- What program do you use on the laptop to view the video?
- What app on the cell phone do you use to play the video?
- What browser do you use on the phone to access the site?
- What error message exactly?
- What version of what OS on the phone?

Website via laptop vs mobile

Hi Kees,

Thanks for taking the time to post these questions. I can't answer most of them, but the point is that the phone must have the appropriate software, as it plays any video that is selected when it is using cellular to access the internet, but fails when the phone is using WiFi.

I considered whether or not the router might be the cause of the problem, but the laptop and the phone both use the same router.

Some answers:
Any video on the website sdarot.pm or mobile.sdarot.pm.
On my laptop it opens in my Firefox browser.
On the cell phone it is accessed with Chrome browser, when using a cellular connection, but fails with "Error loading media: File could not be played", when using a WiFi connection.
It tried 2 phones, one with an old Android version and one with the latest. (Sorry, don't know version numbers.)

Thank you very much.

Priors at https://www.google.com/#q=mobile+phone+on+wifi+can%27t+reach+web+site but one thing in common is no one cure or cause found.

There is one thing I'm running into and that's folk that install antivirus or similar on cell phones. The results have been poor to disastrous. Remember folk only bring me their troubles. They don't bring me stuff that works.
