Webshots' photo file collection disappears after HD cleaning

Jul 29, 2004 11:19AM PDT

All photo files used as wallpaper that were listed in Webshots' (free photo online service) collection file have mysteriously disappeared, after using Evidence Eliminator to clean my HD and registry. However, in Documents, there is a folder named Webshots Data, which was created, when the first photo file was downloaded from Webshots' web site. All these files have the same extension .wb1. How do I make them active again, ie., get them associated with Webshots' collection file? I have a terrible time understanding anything related to file association. So, I need step-by-step instructions. Happy

Harv,
Sounds like Evidence Eliminator has removed files nessary to run Webshots'. Try to un-install the application with its un-install utility or from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Re-boot system and re-install the application. This should re-establish file association.

I do not understand how uninstalling/reinstalling Evidence Eliminator would restore .wb1 file associations with Webshots' application. Confused Right now, these files are in a My Documents folder named Webshots Data, which Webshots created, when the first picture was downloaded from its internet web site.

Since Evidence Eliminator is an on-demand application, which requires one to click an option in order for the HD/Registry cleaning process to take place, can you explain to me how I would regain the file associations by doing what you suggested? As I said in my post, I am a virtual newbie when it comes to file associations.
Grin BTW, my OS is WinXP Home Edition.

Got the Webshot picture files reassociated with the application by transferring them from a folder I had created back into the orginal Webshots Data folder. By renaming the folder, the whole system crashed. I was particularly anxious about rectifying the problem, because of the time invested in picking the pictures I wanted to use as wallpaper from Webshots' enormous photo gallery. Grin
