Webpage icons are following me

How and why are icons from different webpages that I go over over writing the icons that are in my favorites?

Example:

I have yahoo mail in favorites with the red "Y", but as a visit google or read a blog on blogger, the next time I go back to favorites the red "y" has been replaced with the blogger "B".

System is wp pro w/sp2, ie7.
