Webhost disappeared and domain is locked - need help

Feb 7, 2005 1:32AM PST

Thanks for looking, I've been without hosting and email for 5 days now.

In short cyberpixels is/was my web host and after not fixing various problems I signed up with a new host. Problem is, my domain name has to be unlocked before the name servers can be changed to my new host.
Cyberpixels hasnt replied to the open tickets, and their 800 # is disconnected.

Any ideas on how I can get my domain name unlocked without having to wait for cyberpixels?

Somewhere on cyberpixil's site

(going there to check to look for myself), there should be a set of 'your account' tools and/or abilities for your profile and account. One of those tools should be to allow you to unlock the domain name. I have my domain name parked and locked at godaddy and the option is mine to get back into "my account" and unlock it and let me send the name somewhere else. If you can't find it right away check in their FAQ list of questions if they have one.

I looked in the FAQ list, and I found the following:

>>>>>>>>My account is setup. Now what?

If your domain is registered somewhere else besides CyberPixels you will need to update your domain nameservers. You do this with your domain registrar (the company who registered your domain name). Your nameservers are listed in your welcome e-mail.

How do I point my existing domain to my new account?

You will need to update your domain nameservers with your existing domain registrar (company who registered your domain name). You should have a login where you can access a control panel of some sort. If not, you will need to e-mail you registrar and find out how to change your nameservers / DNS information. >>>>>>>>

Try going back to where you actually got the domain name from (your email from them probably has a link back to them with your account info), and see there if you can switch the nameserver information with them from cyberpixels to the new site. Godaddy is where I got my domain name from and that's where I have the ability to lock or unlock my domain, so that might be your starting point, since your point of purchase site for the name is the one that may have it locked so that nobody else could grab your domain name and move it from cyberpixels.

Clarification about original
Feb 9, 2005 4:00AM PST

When I said I currently have no email/hosting for my domain, Its because Cyberpixels dropped off the face of the earth. Cyberpixels was my host for 1.5yrs and suddenly everything has been erased.

- I cannot access Cpanel to change nameservers
- cannot view m3tal.com
- cannot ftp to it
- cannot get email from it.

So, In short. All I can do is pray for cyberpixels to answer my ticket and allow my new host to takeover the domain. Enom wouldn't help either.

Thanks for looking though

Who is ENOM?

Did you ever make a copy of your website to your harddrive while you still could FTP from the Cyberpixels site?

Have you been in touch with the site where you purchased your domain name to see if they could shed some light on getting it unlocked for you?

Hosts come and go all the time and people don't lose their domain name because of it, so where you purchased it from should be able to give you some help about how to transfer it again to a new host.

Re: Who is ENOM?

Enom.com is the original registrar that cyberpixels is a reseller of. I contacted them and they insist that cyberpixels is still in operation and should take care of unlocking my domain name and fixing my account.
But its been about a week now with only an email saying "we've forwarded your problem to an Admin...."

Locked Domain
Feb 19, 2005 4:22AM PST

I'm having the same problem. After more than a week of downtime and no support presence at CP for over a month, I moved to another hosting provider. I had no problem changing my DNS servers, but now the domain has expired because Enom won't allow me to renew it. I've had the domain for six years.. I'm beginning to get rather frantic that I am going to lose it.
