Question

Web text not displaying

Jun 14, 2016 11:48AM PDT

There is certain text that is just not displaying on my computer. This happens in both internet explorer and chrome. It seems to be random webpages have all or some of the text just missing. Here is one example of what I'm seeing.

This problem only happens on random webpages. Most display 100% normally.

This is a work computer that I've only been using a week, so I don't know a lot about it. I've tried adjusting the Encoding on Chrome, but it did not help. I can only assume that since this is happening on both chrome and IE it's a problem with the computer.

If that same pages are OK on other work computers, it's a job for the IT guy to fix this. It's their work, not yours.

If no IT guy present, ask your boss for permission to spend a few days of your paid time to reinstall Windows and all applications (if that doesn't help he has to find a repair shop) or ask for another PC so you don't lose that time.

We're pretty small, so we don't have an IT person. There is an outside IT company we work with, but no one in house I could really ask. I would rather not have to reinstall Windows, and I don't believe there are any other computers I could use :/

But if this issue continues. I might have to just reinstall Windows.

No colleagues or boss that let you use a browser? No friends or family with a computer?

And what is "random webpages"? On some webpages, but reproducible (always)? Or on some webpages, but sometimes only? Or on all webpages, but only sometimes?

Share a link to that page.

The image you shared didn't let me try their web site to see if that happens here.

The text under the pictures is plain text, in gray (38,38.38, not fully black) in Helvetica or Arial. That should show OK, unless something is wrong with the browser, the font, Windows or possibly the video card or driver/

Before reinstaling Windows I'd see what Firefox does when run from a Linux Live disc or stick. If that's OK, I'd save the page in Windows to my hard disk and view it in Safe Mode. If Safe Mode is OK, reinstall the video driver. If no luck, it might be time to reset or refresh Windows, and if that doesn't help either, most likely it's a hardware issue.
