I find that Jave enabled sites do that. There appears to be no cure but to disable java and javascript for such a site.

If you think that is bad, look at http://www.wildcard.demon.co.uk/dev/jsbomb.html but read this disclaimer first!!!!

"This page uses a JavaScript bomb to repeatedly open windows in your browser. If you make the mistake of viewing this page with JavaScript enabled, my advise is to kill the process for your browser. Unless Windows, this can be done with the Task Manager. Under Unix, use ps to get the process id, and then use kill."

Bob, if I understand you right you are saying java enabled sites cause this problem in IE but not Firefox. I use Firefox 90% of the time anyway.

I didn't say it, I wrote it. So far I've been able to see this issue with IE and sites with Java. Since we can do almost anything with Java and Javascript the cure is to avoid such sites or disable Java for that site. The webmaster needs feedback on the issue.
