With tongue in cheek, how about this?

Designer = Dr. Evil.
Developer = Henchmen.

So a designer designs but does not do the real work.

Answer
Web Designer vs Web Developer

Hello frenchs9867!

Web Developers make more money and have more jobs available than the designer. Designers work with graphics more and the Developer works with the backend code.

Which degree to get will be determined by what you are more interested in doing. If you like developing database applications or server side scripting, be a Developer. If you are an artist and want to create good looking graphics and layouts be a Designer.

The following site has a good info graphic on it.
