web cam suddenly stopped working

by fictionfan / October 14, 2009 3:38 PM PDT

I have a hp dv2124tu notebook which was preloaded with windows xp but I upgraded to vista. So I installed vista drivers for my notebook. Even though I was unable to open my webcam(integrated with notebook) it still worked in google video chat and in yahoo messenger. So I installed quickplay software(latest vista version), which comes with hp notebooks.
Initially all worked well but now my webcam has stopped working. It doesn't open in video chats and also quickplay is not displaying hp webcam as an option when I start it. I checked my device manager and it shows no option for imaging devices which I think was earlier there.
Please help me with this problem.

You don't want to know how much to fix out of warranty. This is a common old machine failure and we never fix it. We add a web cam.
