web broswer problem

Dec 11, 2003 9:11AM PST

On different web sites i go to, it randomly will redirect the website and go to http:/// which is a blank , error page, and it does that every single time unless i can manage to hit the stop button quickly. I was wondering if anyone knew how fix this. I have also tried deleting and reinstalling IE 6, but still did not work. Any help would be greatly appreiciated.

in Microsoft Internet Explorer when you are unable to navigate back to the previous Web page when clicking the Back button, it loops endlessly between a Web page which cannot open a frameset Web page and occurs if the Web site author created a frameset by using a source (SRC) of http:///www.example.com, in which there is one extra (/) forward slash. The only means of correcting this problem is to inform the author of the Web site anomaly so they can investigate and perhaps find and remove a (/) forward slash from the frameset source, [Q298639].

flavorice123, It appears that you picked up a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker as noted below.

Variant 12: CWS.Svcinit - Sneaky little fellow

Approx date first sighted: September 10, 2003
Symptoms: Homepage changed to xwebsearch.biz and 'http:///', hijack returning on reboot or even sooner.

Go to the link below and download & run the CWShredder Tool which should correct that problem.
