web board(soap opera) security

Feb 11, 2004 10:25PM PST

I occasionally visit a website to catch up on my soap opera.I am not registered there, have never posted, but do read the boards at times.Yesterday, many posters were discussing how someone had intruded in the forums the day before, I believe. The person was able to post as the members who were logged in at the time.None seemed concerned about their online security, most mainly upset about about the contentof what what the imposter said while using their ID.They stated that the Mod eventually "fixed" it and deleted the 2 hrs. of fake posts.Even with my limited knowledge it didn't seem like a very secure place to be, exited the site right away. What was going on there? Was that considered hacking, one member advised the others that it wasn't a hack?Very curious...TIA Jo
