Question

Web addresses in emails not opening automatically

Oct 26, 2011 11:16PM PDT

Recently in outlook express when someone sends a website address and I point to it and click, nothing happens. The address is underlined and highlighted but it does not go to the address. If they send it to my gmail address, it works there. It does this with anyone that sends emails to me not just one person. Is there a setting I should change?

thanks

In OE, click Tools, Options, and the Security tab. Uncheck the box for Download images. It includes HTML which will include hot links.

I tried that and a few more settings in tool/options and it did not help. I might try reloading Outlook Express and see if that helps. Maybe there is something in Norton or the firewall.

"It is usually not the email client's fault but a matter of the association that links hyperlinks to your browser broken or distorted in some way.

Fortunately, you can usually restore this association. For a quick fix, try changing your default browser and then restore your old favorite. Sometimes this is all that is needed.

More thorough and, thus, more fun is the following approach, though. "

Also, sometimes if your browser is Internet Explorer you need to empty the cache and history to get the URLs working again.
