we are looking for IoT module

Hi, we are looking in the market for IoT device where users can plug multiple sensor with FreeRTOS and must have LoRa communication.
looks like most of the hardware i find are all linux based price of such device is too high for example i need a device similar to the one in the link it serves my purpose as it is FreeRTOS based and can integrate multiple sensors plus it has wifi bluetooth and loRA moduleÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=EFB-REV1&qid=1559667249&s=diy&sr=8-1
we are wondering if you know similar devices in the market please let me know we can make a suitable choice based on our requirement as we are about to start our project.

EFB-REV1 is the best board for your requirements

EFB-REV1 is the best board for your requirements as i understand that you can connect upto 6 sensor and it has UART, I2C, GPIO and so on also it has Over the air software update option available since it has wifi, Bluetooth and LoRa module for time critical application this is the good choice. as far as software and hardware support it can be easily used with Arduino IDE or you can use software given by vendor link other choice that are low cost are Raspberry pi but with Raspberry pi you need to manually connect all modules by purchase each module ex if you need wifi you need to buy wifi module extra and install software need for them and so on but there are other hardware like Arduino and so on which are also cheap options but in most of them we need to connect the peripherals manually

You asked for software and hardware support so it appears that the amazon products failed that test.

I see from your profile you are an engineering house so I feel for you here as I've designed embedded systems for decades. Why not create your own solution now that it's possible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi systems?

perfect hardware

I think we can create our own solution from some hardware available in the market but half way through we do not want to be stuck with components non availability after we designed our own hardware and also if some part of software is still undergoing fixes and so on.

this happened to use few months ago we used RPi and we faced a hell lot of software issues which we debugged for months and finally gave up also for RPi every component has to be manually connected like wifi bluetooth and these bits and pieces keep falling off from the board. and RPi relies only on forum and in those forums every one has a different answer for your problem

and by the way i am just a developer that was the company who proposed us to interface our sensor with their hardware.

I know that very well but about but ... WiFi and Bluetooth is pretty much a no longer going to pair without some manual steps. The days of those just connecting on their own is gone as it was a security risk.

That sort of autoconnection is something that is nice for automation gear.

Me? Just someone with decades of embedded work from full SBC to apps.

Odd that bits and pieces fell off boards. That's a mechanical engineer's job or in the case of embedded work something we get to deal with.

I've yet to find perfect hardware.

At some point it's good enough or you've patched, worked around the issues.

I have too many examples from the years in embedded and app work so a recent wireless link had be beef up or make it more resilient by dealing with "extra bytes in the packet" to tearing down the connection and starting over without user intervention.

That job had the new folk on the team telling me it was a bug in the hardware which may be so but with thousands of systems already fielded the real fix was to "deal with it."

-> The issue of auto-pairing with Bluetooth and WiFi is a rather deep one where you are now running into security features. I feel for everyone there. The reason we are using these over some proprietary wireless link is simple. Cost.

Perfect hardware

According me a perfect embedded hardware is the one which has the following
-Chipset vendor like TI, broadcomm must have good support (Hardware/software).
-It must be cost effective.

90% of the time our project end in a stage where we think back and say why the hell i choose this board unless it has a very good support

Funny you mention Broadcomm.

Our experience was that they would not supply chip documentation unless you were doing a lot of business with them. Say in the tens of millions.

Ti was the exact opposite with full docs (now online), code examples, workshops and FE's (field engineers.)
