"but now I can hear the disc sort of 'skipping' or something of the sort."
Don't you mean "clicking", as in 'The Click of Death'?
Hi,
I bought the Western Digital 4tb hard drive a few months ago to expand my tiny Xbox One memory capacity, and also to load and install games faster than the built in drive is capable of. But when I was in the middle of an intense Battlefield 1 match the other day, the game crashed and said I needed to install it to be able to play the game. What the $#@& says I.. My first inclination was to check my library and see if my other games were still there, they were not. So obviously the Xbox quit recognizing the MyBook. I tried to unplug and replug the power cord in a few times but that didn't work. The light comes on and it powers up, but now I can hear the disc sort of 'skipping' or something of the sort. I attempted to plug it into my PC, which runs windows 10, to hopefully reformat it so I can at least redownload my games, no big deal. So I plug the MyBook into my PC and it does it's normal device setup whenever plugging in a new device. But as soon as it was done with the setup, I could not find the MyBook anywhere in my devices or any of the files it contains. Am I screwed out of this harddrive and need to get a new one? Apparently I am not the only person to have an issue with the MyBook by a long shot. I was wondering if there might be any simple solutions short of buying a new external drive (obviously now going to be Seagate or maybe Toshiba) or having to send it in to a recovery center. If so I greatly appreciate it and if not, I will still appreciate the effort put forth.
