ways to improve performance after an upgrade

Feb 22, 2004 12:53AM PST

I upgraded my Windows 95 to ME. I did not do a fresh install. What are some ways I can improve my performance?

1. Update drivers for motherboard, video, audio, etc.
2. Double the ram up to about 512 Meg. 95 could almost cruise on 32 Meg, 98 did same on 64, and Windows Me is about 128 M to get the same feel.
3. Be Parasite Free! Adaware, Spybot, CWSHREDDER.
4. Be lightwieght and safe. No network shares, Free AVG from http://www.grisoft.com and eject the firewall software (show me the exploit!)
5. http://www.litepc.com/98lite.html

There is no exploit that a firewall is protecting this OS against that is documented. Why run one?

"in litepc will a clean install delete all the files and applications i have?"

If you want!
