Clarification Request
wav is not wma

But itunes should allow you to add .wav files right now.

WMA is a problem. I'd put those on AudioCD (use WMP?) and then let iTunes rip them or consider software from download.com

Answer
Have you tried setting the Import preferences

in iTunes Preferences.
Set them to MP3
Then right click your wma file and choose convert to MP3.
iTunes should produce a copy as MP3

iTunes will import unprotected WMA into iTunes

and convert them into a format that it can play.
You can convert them to whatever you need from there
