Question

Watching wvm movies

May 25, 2012 2:49AM PDT

Since I got my new MacBook Pro, I have not been able to watch movies in the wvm, t...mv, etc format. I get a message when trying that I need something else. I went to the Apple website and found several possibilities. I wouldn't mind paying for it if I were sure it would work. Help, please? Below is what I found on the website.

Thanks, Old Granny Lola

Answer
Did you try VLC PLAYER?

It's the usual solution.

I'll second that

I'll second that. VLC Player is kind of one stop shopping when it comes to video playback. You can keep the Flip4Mac as a fallback option.

I say this mostly because any time Apple upgrades Quicktime, there's a chance that things like Flip4Mac will stop working. Whereas VLC Player is a self-contained ecosystem of sorts, so every time you upgrade VLC Player you're also upgrading all the necessary backend support structure needed to make it work. Keeps things simple, and there's no having to remember 6-8 months from now how you installed this or that third party program to add WMV support to quicktime.
