on the TV (yes, Canada actually has a party called The Liberal Party, and they're the centerist party here). The two front runners, who were roommates at the University of Toronto and whose fathers were both career civil servants in Canada's equivalent of the State department and were both Ambassadors just met on the convention floor. Michael Ignatieff, late of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and the leading candidate so far said to Bob Rae, the other front runner, "Friendship matters more than politics." Can anyone imagine that happening at a Democratic or a Republican Convention? Been here 25 years and this place continues to amaze me.
(Please note: this is purely and exclusively a comment on Canadian politics by a person raised under a different system.)
