I was locked out of my admin account by malware, virus, or spyware, I have reinstalled my OS is there anyway to prevent this from happening again or is it just something that happens after a while?

when you go on the internet, you can use a Guest or user account, then the malware and or spyware/virus does not have access to some of your computer resources. this is good for anything you do on your computer. do not use a admin account.

Hope this helps

It does not

Hi - it has not happened to me in more than seven years with the present XP. But why format and reinstall? The far easier solution is to disable System Restore when you find malware and while you deal with it, and afterwards enable SR again. If you do not, then the malware or remnants of it will remain in the backup on your computer and reappear soon. Hope this helps - Amos

..which usually resolves that issue but then again, malware might lock them all.. If malware has done that much damage, I generally prefer to wipe the drive and reinstall anyway.. Since I always keep backups of the important data, it only involves a little extra time to reinstall and get everything back up and running again.

Hope this helps.
