General discussion

warranty coverage date descriptionary

Nov 8, 2008 12:48AM PST

I have written (ground mail) the Samsung American Corp Offices in NJ, three times with no reply and the online and phone customer support tell me they can not assist with the warranty coverage date descriptionary.

My BD-UP5000 is dieing and I have written the 'office of the president' of Samsung America {and other parties} to get the warranty issues researched and hopefully settled, due to what could be classified as false advertising by both the reseller and Samsungs own web site.""Register now and you'll receive an extra three (3) months warranty on the product"" 'http://www.samsung.com/us/mysamsung/product/myssMyProductRegist2.do']

The reseller sent me a "BACK DATED" third party warrenty and now I have issue.. one samsung should cover the repair.. two if I use this third party warrenty would I be comitting fraud???

Can anybody here help?!?

Case number?
Nov 8, 2008 6:49AM PST

If you have a case number from your call, I'll see if I can do something with that. You'll need to eventually provide a receipt.

I can't promise anything, but it's worth asking.

Case Number
Nov 8, 2008 7:49AM PST

David,

Well, when you call in, and talk about something, your particular problem is usually issued a case number for your (and their) reference. If you don't have one, I'd call 800-SAMSUNG and see if they can find yours. If not, restart the complaint process with your issue and ask for a case number. Post that number, and I'll see if I can escalate it.

Again, no promises on anything, but I can ask on your behalf.

did not have any sort of tracking reference
Nov 8, 2008 6:18PM PST

I don't know if any of this will be of help as the online system kept ""jumping screens"" and could not go backwards with out starting the whole process over again and there is no way to check online a older/pending ticket so I had to create new tickets.. Also none of the emails that I have received from CSR in reply telling me to write following is the text of one of the letters:
Dear David
Thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support.

We will like you to write our corporate address on this.
Samsung Electronics USA
Office of the President Suite 201

That's what I needed. I'll see what I can do. You did register the unit online, correct? If not, do that today and let me know.

Refurbished....
Dec 8, 2008 7:15AM PST

dec2955,

I checked that transaction number with service, and the item on that transaction number is a refurbished unit. I was not made aware of this in your original post. Refurbished units come with a 90-day warranty from Samsung, and that should have been brought to your attention by your retailer/reseller.

However, since you have purchased the extended third-party warranty and the Samsung warranty is expired, that third-party warranty should kick in and cover whatever that specific extended warranty policy covers.

At this point, I can't do anything further. As far as committing fraud on a backdated receipt, that is something I'd definitely recommend you discuss with your salesperson. Samsung had no part in that transaction, and your salesperson should assist you in resolving the issue if you purchased the additional coverage.

Regards,
