WARNING - DON'T USE CIRCUITDIGITAL.COM

Apr 21, 2005 12:49AM PDT

This internet retailer is to be avoided.

They take orders for cameras that are not in stock (e.g., Minolta A-2), but they tell you they have it and will ship it immediately. After you place your order, they call you with messages requesting urgent reply - when you call back, they try to sell you other products.

If I didn't specifically ask about the status of my order, I would have thought my order was sent. I definitely would not have been told the camera was out of stock.

I cancelled my order and asked them to send me an email confirming cancellation. They said they would, but they didn't (I won't hold my breath).

Same problem here different response.

I got an email from circuitdigital.com confirming my order then there was a message on my phone asking me to call to verify the order. Once I did they tried to sell me everything from a battery to a case but I refused all.
Three or four days later I checked the order status and it had been cancled. I can not say for sure but I believe they are somehow affiliated with digitalliquidators.com, who I had previously attempted to but the Sony DSC-P200 from. They have the same selling practices only a guy named Paul told me that if I did not buy a year warranty or a battery that they would be forced to ship me a grey-market camera, which I refused.

do not ever use CIRCUITDIGITAL.com

Bought product under the assumption that product was "in stock" and "available now". I called to get a tracking number and customer service said it had been shipped that a tracking number would be emailed. I waited a couple of days called again to follow up. Someone said product had not been shipped and would ship on Monday. I followed up again on Monday to get a tracking number, again customer service said it would be emailed later today. Nothing had been emailed, so I called again and someone said he would have someone email me the tracking number. The next day I called customer service again and the customer services rep this day said product has not been shipped, that product was discontinued and should be available and ready to ship within 6-7weeks. I asked him why there wasn't an email or a call made to make me aware of this. Obviously I would not have purchase this item had I had known. Which is obviously not true considering the camera just came out. Now knowing how they chose to operate their business, I chose to cancel my order. Every time I called I got false information. After poor customer satisfaction, I reviewed other consumers' reviews and found that this was just par for the course. The same behavior had been used with previous customers.

I learned my lesson

I ordered a cyber-shot camera in the morning; they sent me an email confirming my order. I called to confirm, the first customer service hang up on me, and I called again and got transferred to 2 different people. Their customer service doesn?t even sound professional.
And everything was okay. 15 minutes passed I received a call from a rep saying I have to buy a spare battery because the order I placed was for an open item. I told them to cancel my order. This company is a scam, they put the cameras in a low price so you can buy it then they will try to sell you memory or a battery for triple the price. You are actually buying the camera for the original manufactured price. I went to www.sonystyle.com and bought me that camera. I got 1 year interest free and 2 yr extended free warranty.
I also cancelled my credit account because I do not trust circuit digital.

Tron.

another site to avoid

Same story with TCSCAMERA.COM. They tried to strong hold me with options that I didn't want, then put them on my order without telling me. Then to top it off, have the balls to tell me that I ordered it. Please remember this, ANY site worth it's weight in gold will send you an immediate email invoice of the items you've purchased, not an email to call CS to confirm your order.

WARNING - GREY MARKET.... WATCH OUT, read info here!
Jun 4, 2005 6:29AM PDT

Do a search on google for Canon EOS 20D or some other camera and you'll find many sites that "APPEAR" to be different.

I did a study over a year ago... 99% of all the sites I went to... and there were about 30-40 sites, all had nearly the SAME address in Brooklyn, NY.

Look for yourself. I remember "price shopping" about 10 different sites, calling the different 800 numbers on the site... but guess who answered the phone. The SAME guy every single time - even though the website was different and the 800 number was different.

Welcome to the world of the Grey Market. You really have to watch out where you shop.

I found out that 95% of the time, they actually DO have the camera's in stock for that "super low price"... but they will ONLY "say" they have it in stock or sell it to you at the great price, IF you buy 3-4 accessories. These people make their money on the accessories and not as much on the camera.

So watch out when shopping - especially in the field of digital cameras!
