Wanting to swap out a Dell Dimension HDD with a SSD

Jan 6, 2010 12:48PM PST

I have a E510, P 4 processor 640 w/HT Technology (3.2Ghz processor / 800 fsb), 2 GB DDR2 400 Mhz SDRAM, and Samsung HD160jj/p Hard drive.

I would like to improve speed performance by replacing the hard drive with a SSD - thinking about an Intel X-25M 80GB Model SSDSA2MH080G2C1).

I would like to know if the Dimension Motherboard bios supports this SSD. I've already updated the BIOS to the latest (A07).
Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Just one thing.

Since a SSD looks like a HDD on the interface you are the first to ask this question (well here at least.) Everyone I know has never worried about this and have cloned the drive to the new SSD or fresh installed to carry on.

Hope that helps,
Bob

Thanks for the input Bob. I think that I'll press on - do plan on a complete, clean start with Win 7 and then pull in My Doc files from the other hard drive.
