Wanting a good laptop with some video editing options?

I am going to be purchasing a lap top for the first time and want to buy a good product that will allow me to do some video editing and DVD burning any ideas? want to stay in the 1450-1700 range looking at Sony, Dell, Toshiba,...

On the road I've edited video and made video disks with my Acer 256 MB P3-600MHz laptop.

You'll be hard pressed to find any new machine that will be less than my old machine.

As such, almost any machine will do fine. With exception of the Sony which has such poor support that I can't help but ask you to just remove it from your list...

Yes drop the Sony, but in your price range you might want to look at a Mac Powerbook or ibook. http://www.macmall.com/ Mac OS X has comes with good video editing and DVD software and sometimes you can
get Finalcut express for $99 when you buy the Mac. John
