The rule of thumb seems to be:
"the smaller the camera, the bigger the price".
However there are several cameras that fit within your budget; but at the very high end of the budget.
All can be found for about $350.
Casio Z57
Fujifilm Z1
Konical Minolta X60
Nikon S1
The Sony T series of cameras are priced from $450 to $500.

im looking for a digital camera with the following qualities:
1. small, thin, and easily "tote-able" in my purse or bookbag. preferably credit-card sized. im small and like my things to be also.
2. at least 4 megapixels
3. mac compatible
4. between $200 and $350
i've never bought a digital camera before and i didnt realize how much research actually needs to go into it. i'd been looking at the pentax optio 550 (even though it is an older model), the nikon coolpix s1 (it didnt get a good cnet rating though) and the sony cybershot T series cameras. i know nothing about cameras aside from what they try to sell me in the commercials and ads or from what ive seen. a friend has the optio 550 and it looks to be a neat little camera. its small, thin, and fits in an altoid tin. i think that rocks. so any help in finding the perfect digi-cam for me would be much appreciated.
-k.
