Question

wanted - app for connecting smartphone to smart TV...

May 2, 2015 9:26PM PDT

Have just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime mobile phone and wish to use it as a keyboard with my SmartTV "UE46F6400".

Is there a specific "app" for this purpose?
Google search is not bringing anything forward that I can see.

Thanks in anticipation Happy

Answer
See if Samsung issued any remote control app for yours.

If there is such, it's in that app. I did not check compatibility on this title:

App ~~ QWERTY keyboard facility...
May 4, 2015 5:58PM PDT

Thanks for your input ~~~ however having downloaded and installed the "app" shown in the video what I have is "just" a replicated remote (which does not function at all!).

Maybe I did not explain fully my initial request ~~~ what I want to have is the facility to use the QWERTY keyboard from my mobile phone to input text into such TV-apps as the Google search, YouTube search etc. Confused

I can use the existing TV remote for the same purpose - it just takes forever (!) to use the up/down/left/right and OK buttons with the on-screen keyboard to achieve the same result Cry .

The guy in the store showed me an "app" he claimed to use for the same purpose that I wanted which I did install but on selecting that "app" I see a window asking for information I do not have (?) or understand..

That "app" is Smart Viewer ~~~ on loading, I see a window with a blue banner/text "Select DVR...New"
The second window requires the following...
Description; DVR address; Port Number; User Id; User Password. ~~~ Save - Cancel.

I have no idea what these detail are (except for the Id and Password which I could guess at!).

If you can throw any further light on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again Wink

I supplied the video to show it had/has a keyboard.

Many folk need a reminder these Smart TVs are not PCs. And even if you plug in a keyboard some versions of apps don't take keyboard input. This is the stuff of prior discussions.

To see if there is any hope:

1. Try some USB keyboard. This must work or that app has no chance.
2. Ask Samsung for this app. It's their product (app and TV.)

Smart View
May 5, 2015 1:40AM PDT

Samsung has an app. Smart View. This will allow you have a keyboard. Note that like Bob said, not all apps allow keyboard use. For example, Youtube does not support keyboard use, from a smart phone, or bluetooth keyboard. This lack of function is from Youtube, not Samsung. You will find most apps are like this. Keyboards only work will with the Smart TV web browser.

If you don't like this, take it up with the app creator, not Samsung.

Time to bite the bullet?

I see that Samsung have a dedicated wireless keyboard to use with (amongst a few others) my TV...

Priced at around £55 (GBP) it is supposed to work straight out of the box Wink

Thanks for your input.

I Have One

It' a great bluetooth keyboard, with Samsung Smart Hub, and TV/AV hotkeys. But like stated earlier, Youtube does not support it, and most 3rd party apps do not. You can also use the keyboard with Samsung phones, tablets, some bluray players and home theaters.
