Anyone that buys on specifications seems to get burned.
As to Hz, the teen to 20 something fighter pilot might be able to tell but after that, 60 is fine.
Item 3 is math. LCD switches a cell on fast and the cell needs to turn about half off in at the refresh rate to avoid ghosting. So do the math of 1/60 = how many mS? And the number you get is then usually that or about half that.

Im so confused and torn as to what will suit my eye candy needs game and video wise. I presently have a standard 24" tn 1080 monitor but I want to make an upgrade count and not just get a another 1080, only bigger. Around $200-$400 would be best. So my questions are...
1. Do I need a 60hz or 120hz for standard gaming?
2. IPS or TN? (I'll be looking at the monitor straight on anyway so Im guessing IPS, though Ive heard theyre not the best gaming monitors?)
3. ms speed... 7 or less? Confused on that too.
4. 1440 is next step up from my monitor? My video card is 3GBD5-2DHPP. PowerColor AMD 7950 Max Resolution is 2560 x 1600 if it matters.
This is my current consideration but its 1080 =\
