want to get a 1080p whats coming out

Mar 29, 2006 10:44AM PST

So Iv been wanting to get a compatible 1080p TV sometime this year, getting ready for the ps3-bluray era. I work at Circuit city so i know quite alot about th T.V. we carry and what they do. I know that the sony sxrd and the 55 inch hitachi plasmas are probly the nicest T.V.'s we carry right now. to bad they cant accept a true 1080p signal. Iv been trying to find out information on what rez some of the new tv's will be coming out this year. i know this years sxrd will be able to read true 1080p signal. But others i dont know. i would rather prefer a nice plasma that can do 1080p that is a bit under $5k. anyone know if samsung or hitachi will be doing this?

MY TOSHIBA DOES 1080P
Mar 29, 2006 12:20PM PST

Ive had my 72HM195 d.l.p. for about a month I really bought it blind But the reviews I read were 5 star rating $I paid $4300+ stand, The picture quality is incredable, I did have to special order it and I have since seen none on display Also you hardly see this size t.v. in stores. But I did see a mitisbishi 70" 1080P set hooked up to a computor at Magnnolia in Best buy and I almost wet myself ha ha So this set should look as good with the new blue ray d.v.d.Also I have a problem with mitshibia t.v. only because there first t.v.s were real junk and you never hear much about them Anyway check out this Toshiba before you buy anything else and please post and let us know what hi-def you buy and give us a review they are very usfull to us good luck stewart

QUESTION FOR JROB?
Mar 29, 2006 12:56PM PST

At circut city are you feeding the sets with componit vidio cables? and what sourse do you use? also I saw a demo of a 1080P set hooked up to a computor and the picture was beyond belief How is that set up? The reason I ask is when I saw my new Toshiba 1080P t.v. on display it was hooked up with componit cables and it looked really nice but when I hooked it up in my home I ran 2 h.d.m.i. to d.v.i. cables from my d.v.d. player and sat system and the picture quality set up this way is eyepopping So is the reason you folks dont use h.d.m.i. is the cost factor and do you think a h.d.m.i. set up is better Anywayu good luck to you and let us know what set you buy stewart

Question For Stewart

In the two posts directly above:

First you say that you bought your Toshiba blind based upon reviews you read. You mention that the dealer had to special order it, indicating that you had never actually seen this unit on display.

In the second post you say that you saw it on display.....etc.

I'm confused here. Did I miss something?

one reason it looks better with hdmi in your house..
Mar 30, 2006 4:24AM PST

is that you dont have 100 other tv's to compare it to like the way it is in the store.

you dont have anything to "reference" to in your house....and since you paid that much for the equipment.....you most likely wont say the picture sucks.

this is one of the reason why a lot of people would say "my 20 year old tube tv looks better then hd" or "my $3000 bose lifestyle 28 system sounds better then these klipsch and polk audio speakers"

I DID MAKE A MISTAKE BUT PLEASE DONT BEHEAD ME HA HA

Ok mean people I did see my set on display once but the set was so out of adjustment, and hooked up to an anolog input Also dealer could not find remote control SORRY but actually I did buy it blind. And yess I checked out hundreds of other t.v. AND PLEASE DONT KILL ME BUT FACT IS WHEN THESE SETS ARE ON DISPLAY USING COMPONIT CABLES and then you set it up in your home using h.d.m.i. there is a great improvment in picture, Ok Iam nuts but I have owned 2 h.d.t.v. sets and neither set gave a decient picture until I replaced all cables with either d.v.i. or h.d.m.i.cables for me componit vidio cables would never work have a nice day folks stewart

I HAVE TO DEFEND MYSELF ONE MORE TIME

Iam not bragging about my system. but it seems you folks take it that way. I consider my system to be average Yes Ive invested about forteen grand in it and Iam very proud with its performance but when I see systems at lush buget home theater stores there set ups make mine look and sound cheap But fact is for about $1000 anyone can have a nice home theater that they will be very proud of have a nice nite all stewart
