Want to buy a digital camera w good zoom capabilities and IS

Mar 21, 2005 1:01AM PST

Hello,

I want to buy a digital camara with good zoom capabilities and Image Stabilization. Any suggestions? I like to go to baseball games and concerts, so being able to zoom in to players and/or artists is a plus for me. I am willing to spend 350 dollars at must.

Try the CANON S1 IS
Mar 21, 2005 9:01AM PST

The Canon S1IS is in your price range and the reviews (here and in other sites) seem great. Canon might be thinking to ship an update soon, but there are only rumours and no announcements yet.
If you want to spend more you might consider the Panasonic Lumix FZ5 (Apr-05)(or FZ20/FZ3/FZ4 depending on your budget) or K-Minolta Z5.

Regards and good luck

Antonio

Image Stabilization and Zoom

The price limit of $350 really cuts down on possibilities.

Canon S1-IS (3 meg - 10X)
Panasonic FZ3 (3meg - 12X)
Panasonic LZ2 (5meg - 6X)

If you do some serious shopping, you might find the
Konica Minolta Z3 (4meg -12X) at your price.
