and which digicam is best within 200USD.

I'm mostly interested in Sony and cannon. May think for fujufilm or other if you guys tell me it's pros over sony/cannon.

Sony W310 - Canon SD1200/SD1300 - Fujifilm S1500
Mar 1, 2010 12:02AM PST

If you are looking for a small camera, here are some choices.
The Canon SD1300 is replacing the SD1200, so you can get the SD1200 and save about $50.

If you want a full featured larger camera the Fujifilm S1500 is a bargain.

Colors - That is a bit tricky in the USA because many stores will only stock one color and have to order any other color.

Amazon.com will be a good place to look for price and color.

Canon vs sony
Mar 1, 2010 4:10AM PST

What's difference between canon A1100IS and SD1200? As price is lower for former but more features?

And sony cybershot w230 or w290 is better?
Both are within 200USD.

I'm more towards sony after checking prices and sony prices are lower with more features in same price range compared to canon.

features yes but

If they give you all the features for less than the competition then they are probably cutting corners on other key areas: sensor, lens, and/or processor. If you're just looking for the most full featured cameras, irregardless of image quality, then look at the Samsung cameras. They pack some really great features in their cameras for a good price.

You've misunderstood my point.

By Features i meant everything, pixels, optical zoom, quality etc.

can you specify difference?

and what about sony w230/w290 and canon sd960IS?which is better among both?

I can not choose a camera for you.
Choose the one that has the features you want.
Any of the cameras you listed are good choices.

Fujifilm FinePix S1500
Mar 1, 2010 8:55PM PST

From the link above, Fujifilm FinePix S1500 looks more professional. I had a similar Fuji camera 7 years ago and I lost it after using it for a couple of months. However, I liked it because I could use AA batteries which I could easily replace them anytime when needed.
BTW, I was surprised that I saw the price of the updated camera like Fujifilm FinePix S1500 was about $200.

Now, I have a Samsung ST1000 (TL550) compact camera. It has great features like GPS, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, 12.2MP, 5xOptical zoom. Among those fancy features, I like GPS because I can directly upload the pictures through Wi-Fi to my web album site like Picasa, Youtube, facebook, etc. And I can see where the pictures were taken on the map. But the price is about $300 which is over your budget.

I am sorry I could suggest only Samsung ST1000 at the moment. However, there are so many attractive cameras to look for. It is sort of hard to decide which to buy. I believe you will get a great camera once you spend some time on browsing internet ^.^

You might be patient

The Sony prices seem to be falling because of the new cameras coming out. Here is an article from a little over a month ago showing Sony coming out with 12 new cameras.

http://www.dpreview.com/news/1001/10010701sonyhx5w380s2100tx7.asp

My last point and shoot I bought was a clearance item and bought it for less than half the price of MSRP. It's a great way to get a good deal.

Charger Transformer
Mar 16, 2010 7:48AM PDT

Many chargers can be used on 230 volts.

Look carefully at the small print on the charger transformer.
If it says:
Input: 100V - 240V AC 50/60 Hz
Then it can be used on 230 volts.
You will probably need a plug adapter so that it can be plugged into an electrical outlet in India.

.....

That camera can use either the Sony Memory Stick or the SD memory card.

If you are going to take HD video, you will need a fast memory card.
I suggest the SanDisk Extreme III SD memory card.

Mar 18, 2010 7:16AM PDT

I am not that familiar with Sony Memory Stick write speeds.
And the eBay information does not include that information.

So I will stay with what I know.
The SanDisk SD memory card:
If you are going to use it for HD video, get the Extreme III card.
If you are not going to use it for HD video get the normal speed card.

I refined the search to this:

http://desc.shop.ebay.in/i.html?_nkw=SanDisk+Extreme+SD+-compact+-micro&_sacat=18867&LH_TitleDesc=1&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&LH_BIN=1&_sop=1&LH_AvailTo=95&_pm=2&_dmpt=IN_Memory_Cards&_dmd=1&_odkw=SanDisk+Extreme+SD+-compact&_osacat=18867

All of the Black cards are Extreme III.
All of the Red/Blue cards are normal speed.
