Steve, Right click your Desktop, choose Properties, under the Desktop tab click the Customize Desktop button, under the Web tab you may find it listed and you could hilite it and delete it and OK your way out.

Hi Tufenuf,

I too have this issue with my wallpaper. I followed your direction to the tee and checked the wallpaper I want to delete (from Crosscards) and clicked ok, and the pictures are still there on my desktop! And when I go back to my desktop, properties, customize desktop button, web tab, it's still there after I deleted it? Help, I want to remove this Internet Explorer Wallpaper and have tried about everything. My desktop is currently set to "none" wallpaper yet the pics are still there!! Thanks, Linda

It would be in your profile ...

and named Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp and a file search for "internet explorer wallpaper.bmp" (and YES, you do want to include the quotation marks so you don't get a really long list) will point you right to it. by default that location would be:
C:\Documents and Settings\{user_namr}\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\internet explorer wallpaper.bmp

Do be aware that since it is loaded it will remain on the desktop even after deletion so be sure you make use of the desktop properties and select your old and preferred wallpaper (or whatever else you prefer). If your old wallpaper was selected the same way as the one you are getting rid of (right clicking an image in your browser and selecting to set as wallpaper) it will be gone because only one is saved by that name, new selections overwrite the old one.
