Trump calls Warren 'Pocahontas' at event honoring Native American veterans

President Trump on Monday referred to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as “Pocahontas” at an event honoring Native American “code talkers” who served in World War II.

"You were here long before any of us were here,” Trump said, standing beneath a portrait of former President Andrew Jackson. “Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.”

THEY call her?

I wonder how he will refer to the "code talker" AFTER he leaves the stage.

How do you defend a vain moron who use school yard names to attack someone?

Scary that this guy is the prez.

name calling vs pandering

Which is worse? Not defending either of them. They both have their reasons for doing it though. Her to pander for votes, him to point out her lies.

When pols are running for office they tell you whatever it takes to get your vote.
I understand that and expect that which is why I don't auto buy in to the spiel.

Trump with his label/name calling is childish.
Anything/anyone he does not like he calls some negative name.
That's grade school stuff.
It sure did not belong at the ceremony for the code talkers.
If you want to point out that someone has lied do it in an adult way and in the proper setting.

Tell the whole story Bob.

Even CNN has admitted there's something valid behind it. Trump's just pointing out a Liar.

""I am very proud of my heritage," Warren told NPR in 2012. "These are my family stories. This is what my brothers and I were told by my mom and my dad, my mammaw and my pappaw. This is our lives. And I'm very proud of it."
In that account and others, a genealogist traced Warren's Native American heritage to the late 19th century, which, if true, would make her 1/32 Native American. (However, the legitimacy of those findings has been debated.)

Harvard Law School in the 1990s touted Warren, then a professor in Cambridge, as being "Native American." They singled her out, Warren later acknowledged, because she had listed herself as a minority in an Association of American Law Schools directory. Critics note that she had not done that in her student applications and during her time as a teacher at the University of Texas.

her opponent, Brown, accused her of lying to get a leg up in her academic career.
"Professor Warren claimed that she was a Native American, a person of color," he said during a debate. "And as you can see, she's not."
Warren shot back that she had not gained any "advantage" -- a claim that has proven impossible to fact check."

Whether it's true or not does not mean the prez should talk like a 10 yr old.
It's his vanity kicking in.
This name calling is school yard stuff.
He's got a negative name/label for anyone who gets in his way.

Do you believe

that those Indians were 'proud' to have a LIAR pass herself off as one of theirs not only to benefit from laws that would have given her a 'leg up' but also to benefit her 'career'.....and yet not do anything to benefit or help her 'ancestors' during any part of her life and career? I think Trump was actually pointing out publicly how some people, even to this day, continue to use and abuse their race for personal gain.

I believe

That many of those Indians didn't know what Trump was talking about.

I believe that was not the time or place for Trump to act like a 10 yr old.

IF you do your history, you would find that

MOST of the gambling in the USA WAS controlled by the mob, so he actually had a valid point to make AT THAT TIME.....

RE: the mob?

I thought we were talking about people making claims about the amount of "Indian blood" they have in order to "use and abuse their race for personal gain."

The mob used it...and so did TheRUMP.

I think I might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up the reservations,” Trump said

Wasn't TheRUMP using the "Hey...that's me over here with the Indian blood"....card?

See how I worked that in there, the Indian blood card...at a casino hearing?

Card...casino...get it?

When you have to explain and try to defend

your own babbling....get it?....you already know ahead of time that you've gone off the deep end with it.

TheRUMP claiming HE might have more Indian blood than a lot of the so-called Indians that are trying to open up the reservations,” Trump said

HIS words are "babble"?

Up here there was a Premier of the province...The Micmac-Maliseet Nations gave him the name "Chief Rolling Thunder" He died years ago..... New Brunswick -- The premier of New Brunswick, Richard Hatfield, was charged with illegal possession of marijuana after a package was found in his luggage during Queen Elizabeth II's visit to Canada. He was also known as "Disco ****"

Perhaps TheRUMP could use THAT name....that might get him some Native American votes.

Chief Rolling Thunder......It's a good name for a politician.

"picture of Andrew jackson"

Not a good choice, under the circumstances.
