Am I missing something here or did the BOL crew develop collective amnesia? How exactly are Apple and Amazon colluding to set eBook prices? Wasn?t it the publishers who came to Apple and Amazon and demanded they use the ?agency model? which means they (the publishers) get to set the price of eBooks and not the retailers? And I believe I remember Amazon not linking it very much because they could no longer offer all NYT Bestsellers for 9.99.
It?s not like this is an rare practice in brick and mortar items either. Lots of companies contractually require resellers to sell their product for a minimum retail price (Apple computers, All Clad and Calphalon Cookware, Kitchaid products, Dyson vacuum cleaners, etc). I guarantee that if Besy Buy could sell Dysons cheaper than another store they would but their choice is to sell it for the MSRP or not sell it at all.
It?s not the resellers who should be investigated it?s the wholesalers. Even then, I'm not 100% certain that this is illegal.
