Can someone recommend me a site where I can search for an HTML tag and it tells me whether it's standards-compliant or not? Thanks.

you can go to http://www.download.com/HTML-Kit/3000-2048_4-4687625.html and download the html kit. You can then try your code before putting it on the website. If you know some html and you're not sure it's correct, it has a checker on it that will help you correct it.
I followed PudgyOne's lead and dowloaded the "HTML Kit" program. It looks powerful and it's absolutely free. A good deal.
However, HTML Kit has so many features that any new user should probably go to <http://www.ironspider.ca/hktutorials/install.htm> before using HTML Kit.
This web site, by Iron Spider, will help a new user configure his/her HTML Kit for ease of use. Look for the HTML Kit button on the left side of the web page.
Thanks for the HTML Kit tip.
