W2K slow in booting

After removing some spyware, adware from my windows 2000 pro system, the computer takes a very long time to reach the username and password level after that level it again take a long time to load. Any idea as to why?

You should look up IEFIX and use that, as well as check that DMA is enabled on the drives.
