Question

W-7 laptop won't connect to any bluetooth

Sep 16, 2016 10:09AM PDT

My W-7 laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook A) will no longer connect/find any bluetooth device. I do not recall any changes to settings I may have made nor can I find any documentation to address this issue. Please help.

Any issues with Bluetooth in Device Manager?
No switch or setting or program to disable or enable it?

If none of the two, it could be hardware. If going back to factory conditions doesn't help, it is hardware. If it helps, it's solved.

I've seen that.

The client was a little upset about the fix. I used some 2 buck USB Bluetooth dongle to fix it. The cost of the repair inside the laptop was going to be over 200.

Why were they upset? They wanted the internal working again. They had already reloaded the OS, etc. To me a cheap fix.

Dongle?

Thanks. Dongle where did you find it? Was the range limited? I'll do some online searching.

Bluetooth range is limited by design.

There are different class models but Bluetooth was never intended for more than 10 or 15 steps away max. Amazon.com has some hundred models today. Advice? Stick in the top 10.

Use device manager and uninstall the bluetooth driver.
Reboot.
Windows should reload the the driver.
Test.

If no help visit the fujitsu site and see if they offer any driver updates for bluetooth.
