So you want to encrypt your LAN traffic? Very few routers do that and as such I think you'll call Cisco to check into their secure LAN offerings. Sounds expensive.
Hi everyone,
My current home network configuration is as follows;
Main router is downstairs, and the rest of my family connects their devices to this via wireless.
I then have an ethernet cable running from this router to my bedroom, and it is connected to an old router which I use as a switch. This gives me 3 extra ethernet ports in my room, and another wireless network that I can connect all my devices to.
I use a VPN on most my devices, and after hearing about routers which you can set up a VPN on I had an idea but I'm not sure if it's possible which is why I'm here.
I want to keep the current configuration I have, but add another router in my room (that acts as a switch with wireless, similar to what I have at the moment) that can have a VPN, so that all devices connected to that particular network will have their data ran through an encrypted VPN.
I know I could just install a VPN on each device, but I'd much rather just have a network that any device I connect to it will automatically be run through the VPN but the network downstairs will just work as normal.
I know you can do this with a router, but I have no idea if you can do this while using the router as a switch which is why I'm here.
Hopefully somebody can spread some light on this.
