Voting over the Phone........

by Del McMullen / September 14, 2004 9:10 AM PDT

It looks like someone(s), political or otherwise, are playing games.

A telephone call telling the person who answered that they will not
need to go to the polls, because their vote will be recorded over
the telephone.

So far, all I have to go on is the report of several elderly persons
who have reported the calls to the District Attorney. They did not
have any information as to who the caller might be.

Let's hope the DA investigators, with appropriate technology, and
decent phone records with the phone companies, will ID the callers.

If political, and if the call regimen is aggressive enough, on election
day .................... ? We all know there are many gullible people
waiting to be duped.

Sounds like teen pranks to me.

Hi, Del.

Sounds like typical Republican tactics to me -- a couple of elections ago they sent trucks through the Black precincts here on election day telling people "don't forget to vote on election day tomorrow." Someone's comment here was that anyone who would fall for that trick shouldn't be able to vote in the first place...

Refresh my memory, Dave...

Dave, refresh my memory. Didn't you say that was something that you witnessed when driving people to some function or the other? Exactly what election, and in what city was that Dave?
