Go to www.gotapex.com and they have a link for you to buy a Dell Inspiron 6400. They give you a coupon and this laptop with GREAT features goes from being $1119 to $599 which is what you wanted to pay for the Vostro anyway. The only bad thing is that you get windows xp instead of Vista. For me right now i prefer to use windows xp. Vista is too much of a resource hog. I just ordered this laptop like 15 minutes ago from dell's website.
My mother is an interior designer and needs a laptop to take to house calls. I've been in charge of picking it out for her. I like the Dell Vostro 1420 because of its compact size. She doesn't want to spend more than $700, and the Dell is either $549 with a next-gen 1.86 GHz Celeron processor, or $599 with a last-gen 1.6 Core 2 Duo chip. And on a side note, which would have the best longevity, and can they be overclocked? The Compaq is $509 at Best Buy and has either a 1.8 or 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 processor. I don't know which one would be better. I know that if I choose the Compaq, I'll have to get rid of the satanic software that is Vongo.
Thanks for your advise
P.S.: The only reason I ask is because she doesn't know where to ask, and I'm not really sure.
